Controling Bloom Artist's Medium
Watercolour Demo or Paint Along?
Demo followed by a paint along Are members required to bring a reference picture?
No
|
Description of the session from artist:
My idea would be to demonstrate controlled bloom with watercolor paints, Another technique that goes along with bloom is paint lifting or lightening to create highlights zones as well as softening of hard lines. I will bring some examples of bloom in paintings to show the versatility etc. as well as a paint along set up. Also I will speak about the quality and effect of different paper types and brands and how bloom works with them. Materials List and Notes from artist:
An ordinary pan watercolor or tube watercolor set is all that will be needed. Along with paper and assorted brushes of course. Bloom can be done in small or large pieces for great fill effect. The brush selection should have some fine brushes for detail but also have a larger size such as a 7 to 10 round this mostly what I shall demonstrate with. |

Materials List and notes from artist:
I don't necessarily want people to go out and buy the exact same materials as me, but here are some of the things I usually use. I like Golden acrylics. I always use the primaries, magenta, blue and yellow, as well as cadmium orange, medium violet, sap green, and prussian blue. Like most painters, I have a good collection going of even more, and I might draw on anything in there, but those first 4 I pretty much know I'll use for sure. Titanium White, of course. For brushes, everyone can use what they are comfortable with, but I'll be using a 1/4" angle shader, and a script liner brush. Sometimes I use a larger angle brush too, sometimes the 1/4" is all I need. Canvas size 16" x 16" |

Demo only Reference photo?
No |
Materials List from artist:
No materials list because this is a Demo Only Note from Deborah
I will be doing a demo of a big sky and foothills with snow using oils on a panel. My process is not easily broken down into steps as I tend to ‘feel’ my way through a painting, but if anyone wishes to paint while I am doing my demo, that is fine with me. Questions while I am working are welcome. Members please note only odor free oils and solvents are allowed in the center

Acrylics Demo or Paint-along?
Paint along Is a reference picture required?
YES Members are requested to bring this reference picture. To download image to your computer right click with your mouse and save for printing.
|
Materials List from artist:
I prefer Golden Open Acrylic paint – but feel free to use what you like. The colours I like to use for landscape painting are:
You can use a matte or gloss medium if you like. CANVAS Please bring a gesso ’ed canvas no larger than 12 x 16 inches. Rectangular is usually better for landscapes. NOTE: I often add at least one more layer of gesso for a smoother surface and allow 12 hours to dry. So do this at least the night before. BRUSHES Bring whatever brushes you like to work with. I use one large flat brush (# 20 approx.) for quick coverage; one medium flat brush (# 12), one angled brush (# 6) and one small brush (script liner brush) for details. Members please note that only odor free oils and solvents are allowed in the center
