Greetings to all Club friends and a special Hello to our new Club Members.
We have a full complement within the Organization again this year and of course exciting guest Artists to both present and lead, stimulate and encourage us throughout the upcoming full season.
Some of these Artists we are familiar with and some we will get to know, thereby broadening our artistic horizons, skills and painting aspirations.
As we view these opening Club remarks we see that Windsor Park Art Club has a first, our own Club Website, thanks to the skills and knowledge of Marion Clare .....well done Marion.....a superb construction.
On this site we are able to, blog, comment and post various Club news events and Art information.
No password or login ID is required.
This site will develop even more features as the season progresses so further developments are in hand.
Over the summer months .... and may they sunnily continue... your Program Committee has been diligently at work carrying out the fundamental underpinning of the club in obtaining guest artists of note.
This work ethic and tradition passed on and courageously embraced by Marion Clare and Dianne Peachman... our Program Committee... from our past Committee members ....has been very successful.
The Artist presenters engaged may be viewed on our Website as may be their Medium, Subject and Required materials for each successive session.
Remember that even if one is an acrylic or watercolour or oil or charcoal specialist or no specialist at all, the techniques presented may be often utilized in your medium of choice... so all our presenters will have useable skill sets for each members favourite approach.
The Fall session will see twelve presenting Artists for our Club Members pleasure beginning on September 8th and completing the 2014 offering with a Pot luck luncheon and Critique on December 1st.
The Spring session 2015 will see fourteen more guests with the Finale luncheon and Critique beginning on January 5th and May 11th
respectively.
The Club will open at 12:30 Monday September 8th and the first session will commence at 1:00 p.m.
Guest artists will continue for two hours, interspersing instruction and our painting with their processes as required to suit the Subject and topic. The Club has the space available until 4:30 of each Session giving Members ample time to continue with their works.
Parking is available in the immediate vicinity of Windsor Park and is not a cost item.
Prior to each session there are some logistical set-up chores and it is helpful if those arriving earlier than the 1:00 start time assist with these small tasks, this entails covering tables with overlay sheeting, setting up easels and arranging some few tables.
I would like to take this opportune time and prior to our Club commencement to encourage the Membership to give thought to two Club functions. The first being the Club's desire to engage a Member to act as a Guest Artist Liaison solely during the weekly arrival of our Guests. This may involve simple tasks such as greeting the guest artist, determening easel or material requirement, table arrangements and similar.... If you feel motivated and capable of these tasks then please inform me at our first WPAC session.
The second is the desire to have a Vice President..... so that in the event of my absence .... possibly cruising on a ship somewhere ....a member may briefly introduce our Guest and open the session.... this is not a daunting task and once the season begins it becomes quite self propelling and can be fun.
Again, please apply some consideration to these two items and see myself at the first WPAC session on September 8th
Now for fiscal matters, this years full membership will maintain the Club in a firm fiscal position and Fees will be payable by cheque at the first session on September 8th in the amount of $135 payable to "WINDSOR PARK ART CLUB".
Fees may be delivered to our WPAC Treasurer, Yvonne Parsons during this opening session.
Our club address is the pavilion at 2451 Windsor Road Victoria B.C. V8S5H3
This location is to be found directly in the middle of and is the only building on Windsor Park grounds, we are on the second floor. The park is bounded by Currie, Newport, Windsor and Transit roads in the municipality of Oak Bay.
In closing I would like to thank and recognize Yvonne, for her fiscal skills and Club work, John Pirquet for his Club work and finally Joan, Sharon and Bev for their years of selfless efforts in giving this Club the legacy for Marion and Dianne to so capably carry on.
Sincerely,
Richard Cane, WPAC President.
